Late September Progress Report
Been so busy with trail business and meetings that I haven’t posted anything for a while. Fred Hays (ECKS DIRT WORK) gave ARTinCC a tremendous effort trying to clear out some of our blocked drainage pipes on the northern section of the trail. We need some kind of large industriaI machine to finish this job. If anyone knows about this sort of thing, let us know. We have the section south of Shoup Trucking almost cleaned up as far as volunteer work can take us. We are planning a party to thank all of our volunteers, donors and advocates for all the work done so far which has been influential in our receiving a DCNR grant to build the first mile of trail. A lot of volunteer work and donations will still be necessary even with the grant. AND, BIG NEWS! We received an additional $24,000 grant to plan the municipal park! We want to engage the public for ideas and suggestions for things to include in the park. Suggestions so far include: up to 80 parking spaces, farmer’s market area, mural or glass mosaics on the large retaining wall, move the caboose to the top of the wall, kayak rental, bike rental and locker, improved ADA accessible boat launch, stage for live music down by the riverside. Get involved. Come join us, share your ideas. DONATE. VOLUNTEER. Please consider volunteering work or materials. All donations and members are welcome.
